Options For Gluing FRP.
Plastic gluing options.
Every week, we receive requests for glue for a very wide range of plastics. Once such enquiry which re received last week, was for a glue for gluing Fibre Reinforced Plastic.
First of all, what is it? Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP), is a composite material which consists of a polymer matrix, which is reinforced with fibres.
The polymer matrix itself is usually made from resins within the polyester, epoxy or vinyl ester families. The fibre component may be made from glass, basalt, or carbon. Because FRP can be easily moulded, it finds widespread use in the manufacture of components where weight saving is important.
Fibre-reinforced plastics are best suited for any design program that demands weight savings, precision engineering, finite tolerances, and the simplification of parts in both production and operation. A moulded polymer artefact is cheaper, faster, and easier to manufacture than cast aluminium or steel artefact, and maintains similar and sometimes better tolerances and material strengths.
For gluing FRP, we offer a variety of structural glues, each finely tuned to meet your manufacturing needs precisely. These glues are available in 400 ml cartridges and 490 ml cartridges. All in stock and for immediate delivery anywhere in Ireland.
