Solvent based adhesives have been used for many years for bonding insulation materials, in particular urethane foams & fibrous materials. Late last year, a major manufacturer asked us to develop a solvent free Waterbased adhesive which would not support the growth of mould or algae. The adhesive must have excellent adhesion to rigid PVC, aluminium & plastisol coated steel and since it was used in a highly regulated environment, it must meet FDA Regulations.

W300 Antimicrobial Adhesive

Using our platform technology in functional antibacterial technology, we developed an adhesive which was shown to prevent the growth of moulds such as A.niger, A.pullulans & A.versicolour. The adhesive also prevents the growth of the most common algae including S.vacuolatus, S.bacillaris & T. aurea.

The adhesive dries clear and the dry adhesive forms a water-proof barrier which prevents the transmission of water through the bonded surfaces.After use, application tools may be cleaned with cold tap water.
